Meet the Sisters
Sr. Laura Maripaz Sanchez, SSP
Founder and Superior of the Association
Sister Laura was born in Guadalajara, Mexico. She is the third daughter
of nine children. She originally entered the community of Eucharistic
Franciscan Missionary Sisters in Los Angeles at the age of 25. She
currently is a hospital chaplain, and also assists as the director of a
transitional housing program for homeless families.
Sr. Soledad Rufina Hernandez, SSP
Sister Soledad was born in Oaxaca, Mexico. She is the oldest of two
daughters. Sr. Soledad originally entered the Religious Community of
Contemplative Agustinians in Puebla, Mex. at the age of 14. She is a
retired nurse, and presently, she volunteers in several ministries in her
neighborhood parish and Catholic school.

Sr. Haydee de Jesus Sierra, SSP
Sister Haydee was born in Guatemala. She is the fifth in a family of six
children. As a late vocation, she originally entered the Community of the
Immaculate Heart of Mary. She has taught religious education to
children including children with special needs. She currently works in
Meals on Wheels; she is deeply involved with an adult group in a parish,
sharing and guiding the group in the practise and meditation of Lectio
Divina, and, as a fruitful manifestation of the Word of God being lived,
the group, guided by Sister Haydee, have taken the mission of providing
meals to the homeless in Downtown Los Angeles.
Sr. Ofelia Jacobo, SSP
Sister Ofelia was born in San Miguel Cuyutlan, Jal., Mex. in a family
of seven children. She originally started her religious life with the
Congregation of Servants of Santa Margarita Maria. She currently
works as a nurse in a Catholic hospital in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mex.
Sr. Blanca X. Acosta, SSP
Sister Blanca was born in Navojoa, Sonora, Mex. in a family of 12
children. She originally entered religious life also in the Congregation
of Servants of Santa Margarita Maria. She currently works in a
mining company and devouts her spare time to help her local parish
visiting the sick at home.
